Janet Ang is Singapore’s Non-Resident Ambassador to the Holy See since 2020. She contributes her industry expertise and her time to public and community service. She is currently the Chairman of the Public Transport Council, the Singapore Polytechnic, the Singapore Business Federation Foundation, and the National University of Singapore – Institute of Systems Science (NUS-ISS). Janet is a former Nominated Member of the Parliament of Singapore from Feb 2021 to Jul 2023.
She is an Independent Director of the Board of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange as well as BPI Wealth Singapore Pte Ltd, Swire Shipping Pte Ltd, SISTIC Pte Ltd and the Philanthropy Asia Alliance. Janet is a member of the President’s Challenge Council, a Fellow of the Singapore Computer Society, a Fellow of Singapore Institute of Directors and a Member & Past President of the International Women’s Forum (Singapore). She is a former Council Member of Singapore Business Federation and a past Chairman of Caritas Singapore and past Chairman of Caritas Agape Fund Board of Trustees.
Janet had a thirty-seven-year career in the information technology industry and had lived and worked in Japan and China over a span of eleven years. She was Managing Director of IBM Singapore from 2001 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2015. She was a Member of the IBM Industry Academy. Her last executive role was as IBM Vice President, Industry Solutions, IBM Asia Pacific.
Janet was a recipient of Singapore’s National Day Awards namely the Public Service Star in 2025 and the Public Service Medal in 2019. She was also awarded the NUS Outstanding Service Award in 2021, the Singapore Computer Society IT Leaders Award – Hall of Fame in 2018, the NUS Distinguished Alumni Service Award in 2015, and the NUS Business School Eminent Alumni Award in 2014.
Janet graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) from the National University of Singapore and is also an alumnus of the INSEAD International Directors Program. She is married to Mr Anthony Cheah Kia Heng and they have four daughters.
