MigrantWell provides essential dental, psychological, and rehabilitative care for migrant workers, addressing care gaps in existing healthcare plans.
Born at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, MigrantWell was launched by the SBF Foundation in collaboration with two philanthropic business leaders from the estates of Khoo Teck Puat and Ng Teng Fong. Recognising that migrant workers - who play a vital role in Singapore’s economy - were among the most vulnerable during the crisis, they came together to establish a dedicated care compact.
Today, MigrantWell is a charity with IPC status (MigrantWell Singapore), and stands as a testament to Singapore’s commitment to valuing and supporting its migrant workforce, ensuring their health and well-being remain a priority.
The top three services are dental fillings, gum treatment, and dental extractions. Other treatments include oral surgeries, root canal treatment, etc. MigrantWell also promotes dental health and oral hygiene practices of migrant workers through its partners.
Migrant workers seek physiotherapy treatments for pain in their lower back, neck, knees and shoulders.
Migrant workers receive counselling, casework support, or mental health education. Common issues requiring counselling include anxiety due to medical conditions, and relationship issues with colleagues, roommates, and family. Mental health education includes participation in awareness sessions on mental wellness and access to relevant mental health resources.
Since 2022, MigrantWell has supported 37,508 migrant workers. Through comprehensive healthcare, mental wellness programmes, and rehabilitative care, MigrantWell ensures that migrant workers receive the support they need, reaffirming their value as an integral part of Singapore’s workforce.
